Spanish

Don’t even consider attempting to learn a foreign language unless your heart is in it - you will wasting your time. Learn to be patient because everyone learns at different speeds and sometimes when you find it easy to pick up initially, it suddenly becomes much harder. If you aim for speaking Spanish, there are plenty of options for you: several colleges and universities offer Spanish language courses, which they believe, are very advantageous, which it is. In case you think that you might be over age to join classes with a bunch of young people, then opt for their language programs. As per my understanding there are various crash courses, which are offered by school during summer breaks.

Some companies also offer crash courses where they teach you to speak Spanish while making sure that you get a job right after you finish their program. Aside from that, you’ll see lots of dictionaries in bookshops that could really help you if you have no time to attend a class. You could also avail several self-help books, which contain Spanish phrases and sentences with simultaneous English translations written at the bottom. There is the ever so trusted Internet where you can find loads of free tutorials on Google or yahoo. It’s not just about reading and teaching yourself on how to pronounce the words, although it’s easy since speaking Spanish is more phonetic. Thanks to the Internet, today web casts and pod casts can offer great help to you to listen to the language, and some sites are gracious enough to allow you to download it, so all you need to do is type and there you are!

But, it is much easier to learn if you really listen, don’t just go with the books as there are songs and movies and telenovelas you can always listen or watch. Looking at pictures is a great help, and when you learn a Spanish word, you would ever forget its meaning if you know what it looks like. If you have lots of money, go, travel and explore because there’s no other fun and exciting way to learn a new language but to really experience it by interacting with the people who really speaks it. Once you get closer to the people, their culture and ethos, you would be speaking Spanish in the quickest possible way.

Just remember never to put too much pressure on your self, as it would only delay your learning process. If you visit a Spanish speaking country, you would very naturally pick up the finer nuances of the language and speak like the Spaniards. You might sound outlandish but never mind, when you are learning a language for the first time you are not expected to speak it fluently. Learning is a non-stop affair throughout your life and languages can be part of this process so if you treat it as fun, you are likely to at least enjoy yourself while you are studying.
